I have a single-breasted charcoal grey overcoat that falls to halfway between my knees and ankles.
I am thinking of having this converted to a top coat to end just above my knees.
Any thoughts, advice, examples that others have done?

Hey gang,
I've got a Lamy Safari with a flat 1.5 mm nib. This skips on a regular basis. I use proper fountain pen ink, and store it upright. I've flushed the nib with warm water a few times. Works fine for a while and then stops.
I think the problem may be that the nib is scratching the...
I'll be around the area of TIFF, starting on Monday. Will report any fedora sightings to members. So far, only straw skinny brims.

I thinking of making a western hat with a Montana peak a la campaign hat style. I'm likely going to do it with either a squatter or a bushman. I'm thinking the squatter, because it has a slightly lower crown than the bushman.
Any thoughts?

I want to install a wind string/stampede string in a western felt hat.
Do I just punch the holes and feed the string (likely will use leather thong) through without using grommets.
It's a camp draft that I am westernizing that I will be doing this to.

I know it's a little before the Golden Era, but I am interested in starting a Great War thread. We do have precedents for periods earlier than the Golden Era, for example, Campaign Hats.
