    Mystery G-1 jacket

Hi, folks, and, yes, it's been a while since I was in the Lounge. An oversight, surely. Need your help. I got a battered G-1 off eBay for a decent price, and it was everything advertised. The label is missing, so I am not sure what company made it. I do have a few hints: 1. The "USN"...

1949 Chevy pickup truck. Make women smile and men envious. $11,000

The man who’d marry your grandmama had one of these. When he drove it to see her for the first time, your grandmama’s father looked at the machine and scowled. “Farm boy,” he muttered. “Won’t amount to nuthin’.” Well, he was wrong. Granddaddy did all right in life; he turned out to be as tough...

    Shaping a sisal hat

Folks, a thunderbolt of good fortune struck me. A guy in a junk shop sold a couple of bicycles to a friend, and, as she was trundling them to her car, she eyed a hat atop some other stuff. She picked it up and saw that it was new -- still had the tag attached, in fact. And that tag said...

    Technical Hat Terms

Fellow Loungers, I need a glossary of hat terms, i.e., I need to know what each part of a hat is called. I am familiar with the "pinch," of course, but want to be certain of every other part. It's for publication, so I want it to be right. Thanks, as always.

Rules for wearing a straw hat

Loungers, help. Is there a particular date, eg, after Memorial Day, post-Easter, etc., when it is acceptable to swap out the felt fedora for the straw? It's getting hot down my way, but I live in dread of committing a faux pas. Anyone?

Anyone ever heard of this line of skirt?

Ladies, a colleague of mine needs your help. She is wearing a vintage skirt, but knows nothing about it. The item is knee-length (she's about 5-foot-9), made of yellow wool with a light herringbone weave. The label: "Ballantyne of Peebles." Any information?

A photo of A-2 attire that needs to be shared

I found this photo on a Web site today, and the depiction of the crew's A-2 attire was too good not to share: http://www.ajc.com/news/content/metro/obits/stories/2006/12/18/obbramlett.html
