    low heel heights in shoes

Sure look interesting. It'd be nice to have some go-go-gadget shoes, but $300 - yipes

As if we didn't chat about pin curls enough. . .

My method varies depending on how clean my hair is. If I've just washed it it won't take a set if I just use setting lotion, but if I set it the day after a wash it takes just fine. What I'm doing at the mo, is washing then putting on a load of mousse, then blow drying. when its totally dry, I...

Between the wars hair and makeup?

Just how long is your hair Roselily? Mine is the middle of my shoulderblades, and if I leave a set in overnight I can brush the curl into a decent chin length bob. You just have to roll the curls under - instant shorter hair. Needs plenty of hairspray though. Let us know how you get on.

    low heel heights in shoes

Ooh Cherrycake those are nice. I can't walk in high heels either, and they certainly aren't practical for me at work. How ladies can stand in 3in heels all day is beyond me. I could be so much more glam if I had a desk job *sigh* lol

Between the wars hair and makeup?

Hi there Roselily, welcome to the Lounge - curls will be key I think, with a deep part. Nice and simple. I was watching a Miss Marple this morning and all the female characters had curls. The TV series was pretty correct period wise I think. You could brush the curls out into waves, or leave...

Care to join my no eating after 7 p.m. (EDIT) or 3 hours before bed thread?

If at first you don't succeed.... So long as we keep at it right? I don't own any scales, so I'm not sure of my weight, but I am sure I'm sleeping better. I feel positively perky when I wake up which sure makes a nice change from the usual caffeine kick start. (not that I'm giving up coffee)

As if we didn't chat about pin curls enough. . .

Pin curl set patterns! I use sponge rollers for my layered hair and they work just fine. I use end papers to make sure I catch all the ends together. I took the little plastic bits out, and threaded strips of rag through the middle to make them comfier to sleep on. I kind of have sponge rag...

    UK Women

Yes, the cutting said 'what men think' not what anyone thinks. I'm sure women are more critical, even if it's only in their own minds.

    Wiggle Dress Woes...

Jovan - Gentlemen don't joke about foundation garments in mixed company. ;) I love the high/natural waist wide leg pants too, they look awesome on the bum and hide the saddlebags really well. My OH always compliments my shape when I wear them.

I LOVE my DivaCup! Not for guys...

I know girls who won't use anything but applicator tampons - as if they could catch something from touching themselves *down there*. Its all conditioning anyway right? From advertisers or whoever? If you ladies didn't have the wealth of choice our modern lives afford us how would you deal with...

    Hair rats

*MissHuffs hair rat escaped in the confusion and is now living comfortably in a dark corner, out of the way of bobby pin stickings*

    Vintage styles for short hair

My hair is really thick with a bit of a kink. I had been growing it out and got it halfway down my back, but when I curled it I just ended up with a bit triangle head. Anyone remember Crystal Tipps? So I cut it myself (I know, I know) to just below my shoulders and I thinned out the...

    Preparation H

Zzz... Sleep is a real big factor too. Good deep sleep so your body can renew and do all its body type things that we never notice. I don't often get puffy eye unless I sleep on a feather pillow (I think I have allergies) but I do notice dark circles if I don't get a proper sleep cycle.

    Mascara...Remover for Waterproof stuff

How about a little cold cream on a cotton pad? Works for me. Not too much though, if you don't want blurry eye.

Ode to a hot water bottle.

I'm a hot water bottle gal too - especially when the OH won't let me warm my toes in the backs of his knees ;) My cover is a ladybird made from fake fur, very snuggley.

Care to join my no eating after 7 p.m. (EDIT) or 3 hours before bed thread?

Am I too late to join in? I find the worst time for snacking is in the evenings, but since I took up sewing I find I'm occupied so I don't think about snacks at all. I also discovered sunflower seeds - I'm sure you must burn more calories getting them out of the shell than they contain! Very...

New Ladies and Gents Step Forward

Hello Gents, I've been lurking around the Powder Room for a while now, but I just became a member and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm new to the whole vintage scene, but have always believed in good manners and good grooming - I'm finding as I get older a lot more of what I feel...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I just discovered a new Virgin Vie lipstick, the shade is just called 'red'. I went into the shop on a whim cos they had a load of stuff on sale, and any lippy is worth a pound in my book. Kind of lip glossy, but covers like a lipstick, I think I'm in love. *pouts*
