Fellow Collectors,
Just got a G-1 that has two labels in it. It has the US Wings label and a Cooper Sportswear label. This jacket has the side pockets that US Wings puts in the USCG jackets. Was this jacket one of the prototype jackets that US Wings developed to get the contract away from...
Fellow G-1 Jacket Collectors,
Good evening and Happy New Year. Hope you all had a safe and restful holiday. I have a question. I recently acquired a very pristine Orchard M/C G-1 jacket owned by a US Coast Guardsman. Only item I removed was the velcro name tag tape. However, when I...
Fellow G-1 Jacket collectors,
I have a question on the brand of zipper that was used on the Monarch G-1's, circa 1950s. I recently bought a 1950s vintage Monarch G-1 that unfortunately has a small cut in the zipper tape (which I understand is very difficult to repair). I was looking to see...
Fellow G-1 Collectors,
I am looking at a Irwin B. Foster G-1 on eBay in Size 46. I tend to fit a larger 46 to a 48. Based on your experience, would the IB Foster 46 be a bit snug for me? Just wondering if it is worth the bidding. Thanks
Cheers,
Mike
Shipmates,
Good evening. I have just one question: What year does this contract number match up with? Cagleco Sportswear N383-39321A? Thanks for the help.
Cheers,
Mike
Fellow G-1 collectors,
Just wanted to inquire as to what you think would be a fair price for a Cagleco G-1 in Excellent condition? Saw one on eBay and the asking price seems to be too high. Just wanted to know what is fair. Thanks for the counsel and advice.
Cheers,
Mike
Shipmates,
Good evening. Was just wondering if I could get some sage advice from the G-1 collectors. Saw the following label on a jacket and was wondering if it was a 1960's vintage issue jacket:
BUREAU OF AERONAUTICS USN FLIGHT JACKET INTERMEDIATE
G-1SPECIFICATION NO. MIL-J-7823 (AER)...
Fellow Jacket Collectors,
Was just wondering if anyone had come across any documentation to support removing the fur collar from the G-1 jacket in hot climates (e.g. Cockpit USA sells a G-1 jacket version (the "Forrestal" version) which is supposed to imitate what some Vietnam War aviators...
Fellow G-1 Collectors,
Was just inquiring as what you think a fair price would be for a B series G-1 jacket (leather in great condition, collar in great condition, lining in great condition, waist band knits in good condition, cuffs have some moth holes...overall a very outstanding jacket). I...
Fellow G-1 Collectors,
Just looking for a little help. I just purchased a Ralph Edwards G-1 with the following contract designation: DSA-1-4342-64-C, MIL-J-7823C (WEP). I am assuming this jacket came from a lot issued in 1964 to 1965. Am I correct? Looks to be a very nice jacket with a...
Shipmates,
Just wanted to get your opinion of the G-1 flight jackets made by Excelled on contract to the U.S. government (DPSC). I have two size 48 jackets in my collection and they are some of the most comfortable G-1 jackets I own. I wear them as my day wearer jackets and find them to be...
Hi there, Shipmates,
Was just wondering if anyone had ever used the Urad brand of leather conditioning and cleaning products? I have a late 60's G-1 jacket that has some very dry leather areas. Was wondering if these type of products could help to make the leather more supple and soft...
Good evening Shipmates,
Just wanted to take a minute of your time to enquire if anyone had any information on the sizing for the Ralph Edwards G-1 jackets, specifically those produced in the 1970s. Do they run small or are they normal fit? I am looking at a Size 46 issue jacket. Just want...
Good morning,
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Just had a question on the sizing for G-1 Jackets produced by The Martin Lane Co in 1968 and 1969. I am looking at a Size 46 jacket. I just wanted to know if this company's jackets were large for their size or were they more tighter and...
Happy New Year, Shipmates!!
Saw this jacket being advertised on eBay this evening and just wanted to get your thoughts on it. Based on the tags, it is most certainly a repro. Looks to be a very nice one though. Wishing you all a very prosperous New Year.
Cheers,
Mike

Shipmates,
Saw a G-1 for sale; seems to be a good price; but the jacket has two stains that appear to be paint. One is on the left side of the back belt and the other is on the right front sleeve. Do any of you have any suggestions on how to remove the stains? Photos posted below...
Shipmates,
I saw this jacket advertised as a 1951 vintage. From what I have been able to determine, it was more likely produced and issued between 1965-1966. Just wanted to see if you agreed with me. Nice jacket...just advertising is a bit off (if I am correct).
Thanks
Cheers,
Mike

Saw a very nice Schott Bros G-1, circa 1998, on eBay. Was just wondering what the "collective" thought of the newer Schott jackets? I have read one post that said that he was considering one as a "beater." Are they really that bad, or does it depend. The 1998 E series is definitely a cowhide...
Just wanted the opinion of the more learned G-1 folks in the lounge on which jacket to pick. I have found that with the Cooper Sportswear G-1s, that the 46 R is OK with the body being a bit short (hikes up over my belt). The 48R is very roomy and only drawback...not one for me, is that the...
