    Show us what your selling

I thought it would be a nice idea to carry on the theme of 'Show us....' and add a selling thread. I know there is a classified section on the Fedora Lounge, but I find that anything for us ladies in there gets a bit lost within all the mens items, and it would be great to have a ladies only...

    1940s womens shoes

I have just listed some killer 1940s womens shoes in my etsy shop. They are all larger size, as unfortunately my feet have grown and they no longer fit (both strange and annoying!) If you send me a message saying your from the Fedora Lounge and whats my best price on items I'll work out a deal...

    What are you wearing today??

Why thank you! My shoes were actually from clarks last year (the originals range which does a few proper vintage inspired shoes every now and again), they remind me of the vintage kids sandals you see in pictures! I think they have redone them this year too which I'm pleased about! Yes white...

    What are you wearing today??

That quote reminds me of me at Detling last year sitting on the wartime beach display! I wore a rather pale 1930s elasticated swim suit, and pale colours do not go with my pasty complexion either haha! The swimsuit is fabulous however! I'm pretty sure I'm worrying about being sunburnt in this...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I just bought some Miss L Fire shoes too! They are the Land Girl style. When they first came out they had them in 3 colours and I would have loved the navy, but at £64.99 plus £5 postage on the Miss L Fire website I decided to leave them :( But I just got them in the black and red for only £32...

The Cleaning Clothes (vintage or other) Thread

I'm looking to clean a checked 1940s wool skirt that has quite a few stains on it. I was thinking of having it dry cleaned but typically this process just doesn't get 70 year old stains out! So I will probably end up handwashing it (lukewarm water with soapsuds and dried flat after), would there...

    The Pinup Thread

Hi all, I haven't posted here before so don't know if this is the right place to put it, but i just entered a competition over here and was wondering if you lovely ladies would be willing to vote for me, or even cast a vote for any of the other glamorous ladies that have entered. I would be...

    Modern Vintage Products

I think is also depends what lipstick you use with it. Nearly all of my lipsticks, including my rimmel and bourjois lipsticks work fine with it, allowing them to last all day. However I've tried lipcote with revlon's matte lipstick and it goes very sticky and clumps up, not a pretty site...

    What are you wearing today??

Love the dress and the remixs! I had a pair of in that style in the red but sold them due to being too small, really would love to get a new pair. Remixs are so comfortable and cute! :)

    Modern Vintage Products

Wow, love that advert! I thought it was more modern too. Lipcote is such a great product that really does work, no wonder its been round for so long!

    Modern Vintage Products

I was thinking exactly the same thing! I'm pale, normally ivory shades (creamy ivory in the Max Factor miracle touch foundation), but in the pan-cake makeup from the the US they only have neutral or tan shades?? I read somewhere that the shades look darker in the pot than on, but I don't want...

    Modern Vintage Products

After reading Retro Makeup: Techniques for Applying the Vintage Look by Lauren Rennells, which is an amazing book by the way with gorgeous photos and great tips, I have become interested in the products they used back then. Its interesting to see that there are still some products out there...

    What are you wearing today??

Never posted in here before, but taking at look at the previous posts, everyone looks so smart and dapper! Not so much what I was wearing today, but I donned a new (to me!) late 40's mogashal dress in the cute spot print, and white wedges for a 1940s dance I went to last week. Unfortuantely I...

Miu Miu goes 40s for fall 2011

Yes some of the items, especially the block colour coat/dress things, are giving off a 80s vibe! I wish designers would come up with something new. I mean I love the 40s and think it was a classy era, but designers are meant to design some NEW not just copy previous stuff. We would never have...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I heard that Marylin Monroe would use several shades of red lipstick on her lips at one time to give it a certain effect, can't say I've tried it myself though :).

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

Thank you :). Thats one of my favorite dresses, got it off etsy a while back and it was so much nicer than expected! Love it when that happens! Its a lovely rayon jersey fabric (which requires no ironing yay!).

    What powder, foundation..

I really want to try the Coty airspun power, but does anyone recommend the colour to buy for someone with fair skin? I was thinking of getting the translucent one, but I want that pale, matte look, so I don't want it to be too translucent! Also does anyone recommend where to but from?!?! I...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I'm loving two lipsticks at the moment, both by the Revlon matte range. Really Red, which is a lovely mid-red colour, and Strawberry Suede, which is more of a pinky-corally red colour. When I initailly bought them I thought they would be really drying, however they're not! The are really quite...
