Welcome, and nice hat. It’s tough wearing larger sized hats, but with some patience and persistence you’ll occasionally find one. I doubt that the sweatband is bonded leather, but I certainly don’t know for sure. Leather sweatbands are very susceptible to dry rot and when that happens it can...- deadlyhandsome

I personally think they are good for a fraction of a size…more just taking a hat that is wearable but a bit snug and bumping it up a small amount. If you try for even one whole size you will run the risk of damaging the hat and screw up the brim flanging. You can also cause a vintage sweatband...- deadlyhandsome

Does anybody recognize this brand?
It sounds like the leather sweatband has dry rot. This is very common. Once it has dry rot there is not fixing it. Most of us live with the deteriorated leather until it becomes unusable and then we replace the sweatband.- deadlyhandsome

The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD
Ahhh, the wonderful world of Borsalino sizing: I can see 8 as a Punit/French point size which would correspond to a 63cm in metric sizing, but where does 7 ⅜ fit in? It should be 7 ⅞ US or 7 ¾ UK, but 7 ⅜? I don’t doubt that a 7 ⅜ head would fit a 63cm Borsalino. :)- deadlyhandsome
