    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Slim, you look great. You're the business tycoon and I'm the carpenter. Stark contrasts yet the hat works for both of us just like it did at the turn of the century. So what's really changed when it comes down to it? I say nothing. The derby is the great American hat and will be for some time.

I have finally found a vintage bowler in a size that fits me - 7 3/4!

If you make a claim with PP over an item not described and get reimbursed for the auction send the hat back regardless of whether or not the seller pays to ship it back. Failure to do so can result in a reversal or worse yet the seller can file a mail fraud complaint against you if they shipped...

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Nice nice nice old Stetson you got there! I doubt mine dates anywhere close to yours. I'll have to take some pics of it and see if anyone can guesstimate how old it is.

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

My stingy brim modern Beaver bowler. And my vintage Portis Frolicking Bunny bowler. I like bowlers. It is the great American hat and works for all occasions.

    Wallets

I own several Filson leather wallets and they hold up well. My credit card wallet goes for regular swims when I'm fishing and after it dries a little boot oil to condition the leather is all it gets. The more you use them the better they look too. and if you do manage to kill it just call up...

The Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon

I guess I'll have to drag the camera out for a pic of my thin ribbons. I have a silver belly OR, a Stetson Dune in acorn and if you count leather as ribbon then I guess my Stetson Grant would be a thinnie too. I almost had Beaver make my stingy brim bowler with a thin ribbon but alas I did not...

    Dusters?

Dusters were generally made from tightly woven cotton, a duck if you will. It's main purpose was to keep trail dust and grime off of you and your clothing. Waxing it made it fairly waterproof so it had the added bonus of protection in rain and wind.

    Dusters?

The Aussie duster and Filson duster, both oiled cotton work extremely well for their intended purpose which is keeping the elements and such off of a rider on horseback. Neither garment is cheap unless of course you are comparing them to bespoke in which case there is no longer a comparison. In...

when to wear your G-1...do you hear me!?!

I wear an unauthorized A2. I like it and the way it looks. I'm also a pilot so there's a special meaning behind it too. It connects me with a group who's earned their wings whether it's military, commercial or private piloting.

    Post New Hats Here!

Picked up a Stetson Dune in acorn. It's one of the hats in the Gun Club collection. Nice hat, right price and I like it. Pics later when I'm not trashed from hunting deer all day. LOL.

    Fedora without a suit advice

Thanks! I'm convinced that most people who wear a bowler view it in British eyes versus American eyes. In British history it started out as a game keepers hat, turned into a very formal hat and stayed that way. In American history the bowler is the great hat of the West and was worn by...

    Fedora without a suit advice

A nice hat can go well with a casual look. I'm a bowler guy and it seems the consensus here is I make it work. I'm sure it can be done with a Fedora just as well.

The bowler and casual dress, yes?

Let's try this again. Today it's Ariat boots, Lee Authentics 101s (1901 pattern), Filson double belt, Northface shirt, my trusty Filson Aviator after being snow sealed. I like how the color deepened and how it patterned, and last but not least my vintage Portis Frolicking Bunny Bowler in dark brown.
