Just a bit of steam eh
Hi G Man: Just get a kettle going, and run the front of the brim (top and bottom) over the steam (7 to 10 inches away) until it you feel the felt loosen or become pliable.
Then turn the hat to look at you, and hold the brim on either side of the front and allow the hat...
What do you think?
What do you think genphideaux, a bit of steam to bring the front brim down?
Maybe a bit on the sides?
Akubra's are great, as they have a wack of stiffener in them that allows multiple steam's.
I know I may sound like a barbarian but I like a lot hate stiffener in a hat...
Looks good G Man
Hey G-Man: Give it a bit of time. When I first got a taller crown Fed D, it seemed quite strange but really does grow on you.
I was wondering how high your front pinch and rear crease hight might be?
I've experimented and found that the difference between a 4.5 front pinch...
All about Stiffener
Hey 68: I also have two AB's, the first bullet proof stiff in crown and brim, the second with a solid crown but soft brim.
The reason for the difference just has to do a hat that will conform better to the head of the wearer. This all has to do with the amount of...
Thanks to the Dutchman!
Happy New Years Folks!
Dutchman, that hat is sweet!:eusa_clap
I was likewise looking at the Squatter. The block looks really straight
and it wouldn't take much to cover the vent with the ribbon if you wanted
to. Very nice. Where did you get it?
I have to...
Size?
Hi Garret: Sounds like a nice lid.
I'm just curious if you could measure the inside circumference of the
hat.
I have a 22 inch head which is usually a 7, but I find that most Stetson 7's run smaller at 21 7/8's.
And could you mention the colour of the sweat band.
Cheers...
That's good news!
Thanks Bigsho:) . My info was a couple of years old. 2 years ago, one of our members, who lives in Guelph had gone to the plant to find it closed. When he enquired, he was told that Biltmore was no longer making anything. The store was still open but the rest of the plant...
What could have been eh!
Hey Radio: Good to see another from Canuckistan on board :eusa_clap .
It looks like a refined quality hat and saddens me that unless things have changed "Biltmore is no more". In this regard I mean "Felting" at least.
Last I heard, the plant in Guelph Ontario had...
Beautiful!!!
Agent5: That first Mallory is amazing. I'm a size 7 and am going to be watching this carefully. I was just curious about the colour. One of the close up shots of the ribbon seems to be lighter than the rest. What would you say the true colour was. I'm really looking for...
Swing Shift:
Hey Miss Bella: If you ever get to see the movie "Swing Shift" (with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel) He wears a cream fedora with black ribbon as his daily lid. I think the style and colour could suit your guy. Soon as I saw your pic with him, I thought immediately of the movie...
Now I see!!
Hey Mark::) Now I see!!:eusa_clap
Very Nice Homburg style. I've not tried this before
but it is a beauty for sure.
I'm thinkin hard on this one my friend
Talk soon
Kilgour Trout
I thought perhaps that though I've posted this over on COW, there might be some here who could make some suggestions and perhaps take a similar route.
I can honestly say that this block from Lamode is the best
investment I've ever made.
It is absolutely great...
Trappers too?
Wow..Section10 and Fedora, I had no Idea there might be some trappers on board. I'm honestly glad about this for a number of reasons. Living up in Northern Canada, Trapping is common place and a part of our heritage. There is a link to the land and a respect of what comes from...
Hey Folks : Forgive a distinctly "Indy" question but as I venture into the world of cleaning and reblocking my own lids, I'm wondering which flange style would be the best for an Indy style hat? I know our tastes venture a little further than Indygear but I'm in the process of ordering a size 7...
Couple of Winter Shots
These two were from a year ago when I was about 20lbs bigger. The coats were both 40's era and could have been from the same guy Port Arthur, Fire Chief. I really like the fall overcoat.
The two lids were 1. Adventurebilt Beaver
Stetson...
Thanks guys
Hey Thanks Fella's: :) I didn't realize there was so much feedback. I really appreciate the info on Lee, because its been one of those hat makers on "the list" as they say. Just ignored enough to let a few like this under the radar. I just hope its one that escaped Stetson's...
Hey folks: I understand Lee hats have been a maker for quite some time but I've never heard much in terms for their history and quality.
The reason I ask is that on another site we started talking Seabisuit hats
After a member put in this excellent shot from Seabiscuit...
Congratulations!!!
Hey Bob! :) :clap There you are I wondered what was up, I hadn't heard from you for awhile and was actually thinkin about what had happened to you. Congratulations on the little one...they're absolutely fantastic. I hope the Mrs. is doing OK aswell. You'll have to post a...
Very nice
Hey Prairie: I went over to take a look and was impressed. I was just wondering the true colour as it looks like a creamy tan. I'm a size 7 (about 22 inches around) and am interested. I'm also wondering if one put a bigger ribbon the small spot or moth bite would be covered...
Great group My friend!
As someone who got pulled in progressive rock wasn't Kraftwerk in the genre of Tangerine Dream? There were some fantastic German Bands in the late 60's and early 70's that pushed the boundaries of synthetic music and have yet to be surpassed in terms of imagination and...
