My post was misunderstood.
I wanted to know if there is info and interest about the 54 USA trench coat
I posted here because it is a military garment
does any one know a history of this piece?
or should I move this to a different thread?
A fellow came to me with a WWI tunic and wanted it altered to fit him.
It was to small in the shoulders and I told him it coudnt be made larger.
it looked very very pristine I asked if it was original or repro.
he said original so i started looking at the union label size label and...
at reenactorfest I found a excellent WWI tunic made in Ore. the best part of the coat though is the inspection stamp. The inspector has my sir name
is that cool or what!!!
i'll try to post a picture this week.
I was at the shop next door talking costumes and the fellow said he had a 1916 salvation army coat I said I was making 1916 salvation army outfits for some curent SA women and he said he would let me have the coat for a while to copy.
I am getting old and cant remember the name for the device I have, to hang my coat and pants that has a place for my belt and change it sits at the foot of my bed do you know what I am talking about?
how many folks have one and where can I get another?
We had a great time last night.
We moved martini night to my house instead of the shop.
we had good food and fun drinks a member of the club had a music book from 1920 and I had a few from the 30's and we sampled old tunes on the piano. We had two guitars a strumming and a penny whistle...
thought I'd snuggle in here for a while and get away from all the political stuff.
it is so refreshing to talk about the things that take us to a better place and time.
the weather has turned cool and its time to sort through my fall and winter clothing.
