gaspar gloves

I just got my pair of "The Drive" gloves from Gaspar Gloves, but I noticed an issue with the gloves not fitting right, with the fingers/thumb being too long with excess space in the tips. The rest of the glove firs ok, not amazing just "ok"; but the fingers and thumb are definitely a big issue...

I was trying to size myself for a pair of leather driving gloves, and I followed a guide from this site: Gloves Size Guide and Charts I did it the way that site showed with the tape measure around the widest part of my hand. Is that actually the best and most accurate way to measure your hand...
