Hi Diner man! Please check out the jacket I left on OUTERWEAR by dating a leather jacket. Your thoughts and skills would be appreciated!

Thanks

The maker's label was long gone when I got the jacket, though it does retain a small tag indicating size (42) and the fact it was made in the US. I'm guessing it's 50s - 60s.

I agree with Schitzo about those pockets. Perfect proportions. I find the larger, longer pockets on some "bombers" to be fairly unattractive.

I've never been a fan of bombers, but I'd wear that in a heartbeat. When I was growing up, it seemed every coat, shirt, and jacket we had was a McGregor. They made beautiful stuff back then.

Very nice color / patina. Have the knits been replaced? They look fairly tight.

When I had it, one knit was original; one a reasonably well matched older replacement.
That suited me perfectly fine, but both knits were replaced after I sold it. They no longer match the waist knit, which is a great duo-tone blue/red if I recall.
I now have its larger sibling (McGregor M-422) - identical save for a mouton collar, but a true 44".
