20s - 30s Royal Stetson Mode Edge Zephyr Weight Sz 7 3/8

Black Royal Stetson Mode Edge Zephyr Weight in excellent condition. I believe the hat is from the 20s or 30s, l'm sure some experts here on the forum would know. The hat has a 2 3/8" brim with Mode Edge and a 4 3/4" open crown which is wrapped in a 1 3/4" grosgrain ribbon. The silk liner is in nice condition with some light staining or water mark. The reeded leather sweatband is soft and pliable and solidly attached to the hat but the back seam has come unstitched. Zephyr Weight felt very light and soft. No mothing or felt issues what so ever. I would keep it except is is just too big for me. $385.00 shipped.

Thank you Alan. What would be the specific details of the hat which would place it from the late 30s to 1940? Would the pink "M14 39" stamped on the price and style tag behind the sweatband possibly indicate the hat was made in 1939?


Listing correction: The open crown is 5 3/4" vice 4 3/4"

That price tag could be a date code. First use shown in the trademark filing for The Royal Stetson is 1935. The timeframe of the narrow three panel manufacturing tag is discussed in the Dating Stetson by Mfg Tag thread. Other elements in this hat are seen in my Imperial Stetson which is also c.1940.

Stetson used Selv-Edge first in '33. Mode Edge appearing closer to 1940 so Alan seems likely to be correct.
