40's ties

I was looking at these ties, and I like the way they look, I was just wondering, does it really look like they came from the 40's?

I was under the assumption that pictures, painted or not weren't on ties till the late 50's, early 60's

I have to bow to my friend BK's considerable knowledge on such matters, but one finds "picture" ties going back much farther than the 50's, 60's. Those in the auction look '40's to my eye.

Thanks again guys , the only 40's ties I ever saw had geometric shapes with a solid color background (my grandfather wasn't too much into the "picture" ties).

1940s to the very early '50s. The blue tie is extremely interesting: it shows a sailing ship in a small white circle, with abstract masts and rigging below it.
