Here are two pages from the 1944 AAF Guide showing the pay scales.

416rigby posted three of his father's passes in England/London in the "WWII Photos - Taken / Collected by Family Members" thread.

I was wondering how much a US soldier might spend on a typical leave to London. The "official" rate of exchange at the time was 4 USD to the Pound.

Does anyone know how much a movie, stage show, beer, coffee, dinner, etc. was back in 1942-43?

Thanks,

John

As the saying goes by the Brits at that time: "Oversexed, overpaid and over here", to which any good American would respond, " You are Undersexed, Underpaid and UNDER EISENHOWER"!
