Another Art-ful panama

Here is a photo of my latest, my classic panama from our very own Art Fawcett.

The hat body was from PanamaBob and Art replaced the cloth sweat with a leather one, and reblocked and added the thin ribbon.
I have worn it all afternoon and really like the fit and feel of it.
Looks kinda sporty for an ol' farm boy!
Thanks Art,
[and you too Robert!]

Straw vs felt in "spring"

RBH, I think you live in my part of the country. Please try a "brain bakeoff" for us newbies in the Suthun states and tell us what a few hours outside on a a warm afternooon in your Panama from Equador is like compared to a reasonably light color, like silverbelly (and lightweight) felts, maybe one of your ORs.

Significant difference? Feel the breeze? Not so much?

Thanks!

Davidson, I can tell you there is a BIG difference. My silverbelly Marathon is the lightest felt I have. My head still burns up in hot weather. My Miller Logan was so much cooler, I know as light as this new panama is that it will be even cooler than the Miller.
No contest [IMHO] in warm weather between the panama and a felt. A lot of that depends on what you like.

Another great panama! You just need an "ice cream suit" to go with it!:)
Sefton, I told this to my wife, she said ''your not going to look like a pimp'' HUH I was thinking Sean Connery!!!
Thanks every for the nice imput! This hat is so cool. Like Hemingway said this look lends itself to a classy time.

Here you go Dean

I had Art leave the back brim down. I like it that way on a straw, but this straw is way soft and I did not think it looked good with the back snaped up. Art put some stiffner in all of the hat and I like the way it is now.
This hat was not bleached and the brown-brownish tan color dosent really show in the photo but gives the hat a vintage look I think.
Once agin THANKS for the kind words.
If you dont have yourself a nice summer straw give Robert and Art a holler!

Great looking lid, RBH! :eusa_clap I, too, have been giving serious thought to getting a Panama with an Optimo block -- it's a distinctive look, to be sure.

Cheers,
JtL

That looks great. I have a box in customs now and I hope it has all of the hats ordered. It has been a(nother) crazy year. I wish I could live in Ecuador again. It was much faster and I had better control.

Very Nice Indeed!!

I have not been able to get to the lounge often lately. But things are getting back to normal and It appears to be perfectly timed as I too recently recieved my custom Panama from Art along with a Panama that came from Pananmabob that Art finished for my son. They have matching ribbons and look just great. I wish I could wear that Optimo like yours RBH, but alas my fat face keeps mr from it. Looks great on you, enjoy it.

J.S.
