Armhole Query

I thought I posted this before - but I lost track, so...

Armholes. I agree with Deckard's theory of armhole. Can an ordinary tailor alter a coat to raise the armholes or is the cut of the fabric beyond repair? I'm needing to take a jacket in to bring the sleeves up a bit and wondered if the armholes are worth doing as well.

I believe it is possible to increase/lower the armhold but not raise it. Making an armhole smaller would require extra material in the suit which doesn't exist anymore as it was cut out when the jacket was constructed.
