speaking of big bombers, I think you and other will be interested in this

It from the set, and is someone in the area who filmed some of the planes. Also I heard that Lucas has been planning and thinking about making this movie for 25+ years.

All the video makes reference to Milovice which is a small town in Czech Republic. With a little tracking I found a bunch of nice still shots in very high resolution

GREAT shots!! The only one I have a problem with is this one:

Seems everyone want's to wear the "mechanics apron" to do ground crew but the reason there are so many and still in the box is because THEY WERE HARDLY USED! The mechanics I have talked to (a lot of them too) all say they used them ONLY for heavy maintenance and that was only if the mechanic actually had a way of getting one. They usually used their coverall pockets to carry tools or sometime a tool bag. O.K, iI am done grumping!:D

cc0231 - good points, without historian/reenactors always holding to a historical standard, history fades. People use more and more of what they think and historical reecreations becomes a blurred facsimile of the past.

Good point. Crying shame a lot of people in the hobby don’t think of things in that way. As for the aprons (which I agree with the point that they rarely are seen in period photos and the vets don’t normally recall using them), I have also talked with plenty of ground guys from WW2 over the years, and many of them never wore the A-3 mechanic’s cap (the one with the long bill). Many I have talked with said they wore the standard 1941 model HBT fatigue hat.

With all the research and interviews I have found the A-3 cap was more prominent in the ETO whereas the short billed cap was more prominent in the PTO. Crazy stuff, you would thing in the pacific you would want more sun protection verses the short billed cap.
