Bio for Graham Thompson? Pre-Optimo?

I need a history lesson.

Does any one know the history of Graham Thompson BEFORE Optimo hats?

I recently won an auction for a "Optimo" hat that for some reasons didn't strike me as the genuine article. For starters it's not as good a fit as my other Optimos. But what really got me was th sweat looked a little more crude then my others.

Then i noticed the Box..... Ghram Thompson - Bigsby & Kruthers.

Could this be a pre-Optimo Optimo? Are Optimos sold locally in other menswear shops in the Chicago area?

For those curious I do plan to keep the hat. I'll send it in for a Sizing and blocking.
