Borsalino Homburg

I'm considering purchasing my first homburg, a Borsalino Continental from Ben Craft Hatters, but am having some difficulty deciding on a suitable brim length Perusing over the web, it seems like 2 5/8'' may be standard (common sizes seem to range between 2.5 and 3''). I'd like a classical look, something to compliment my black tie or a 3-piece suit. Any suggestions?

I would suggest that you look at vintage (not that I want to take a away business from such a good supplier as Bencraft), but vintage homburgs especially can be had for a great price.

The best brim width depends on your overall size, head size, face shape, and the hat's crown height. I suggest trying a few on.

My favorites are those with a wider, flat brim such as the vintage Stetson St. Regis. I agree with you in that I do not care for the "smiley" brim on a homburg, on my head.
