I started posting on here about Christy's of London a while ago. I decided to follow up with the emails I received from the company. These are the words of the reps that replied to my emails.

1) Regarding the Adventurer:

Felt Color:

For an all round hat, I would go for a brown coloured hat as this goes well with all the dark colours and looks very smart. The image of the brown Epsom or the Adventurer on the Fur Felt page is a good example."

"The Grey Mix is indeed a long felt and not a smooth felt like the Sable or Light Grey. All the hat bands are stitched in the way you describe, but some customers have had a local tailor alter it to their preferences. The Fur Felt can cope admirably in all weather. If it suffers too badly, a steam and gentle brush can restore the fur fibres back to their normal state."

Ribbon Color:

"Christys have informed me that the following ribbon colours are available:
black, dark brown, brown, green, grey.
If you would like to specify a ribbon colour choice, please send an email directly after placing your order, otherwise the standard ribbon will be sent."

"Thank you for your email. It would be fine to use the Fedora ribbon style on the Adventurer. If you could email me as soon as you have placed the order and I will pass the information on to Christys. Please also let me know if you have any preferences of ribbon colour. There is obviously a standard colour dependent on felt colour, but if you wanted something different they are generally available in black, dark or light brown, grey or elm. "

Regarding the visible ribbon stitching on the band/ bow:

"Thank you for the time you have taken to send your thoughts and pictures of the ribbon stitching. Unfortunately, although we do take on board your comments, this is the way Christys have been making the hats for many years and we are unable to make any changes to this. If you would prefer, we would be happy to send the ribbon unattached and you could have your local tailor stitch it on as you like."

Hat body modifications:

"All Fur Felts are made to order and so it is possible to customise the Adventurer. This means the crown height can be altered, as can the brim size. However, it is not possible to change the taper of the crown as they are made on shaped hat blocks and cannot be adapted.

If you do decide to customise your hat, please email me after placing your order with your specifications so that I can amend your order."

These following emails are regarding the fedora style, 2.75" brim on their site, it is also known as the wide brimmed trilby style.

Hat body size and shape:

"Thank you for your email. Yes - it is possible to order the Fedora with an open crown so that you can bash it yourself.

If your head size is inbetween sizes, I would recommend ordering the larger size (60cm) and requesting that some felt reducers be included with your order. These fit inside the sweatband to ensure a snugger fit.

I think the crown height is 5 & 1/2 inches and comes with a 1 & 1/2 inch ribbon but I will need to check these dimensions with Christys as I am unsure! I will be in touch once I hear back from them.

Please remember to email any specifications or requests immediately after placing an order."

They then wrote me with a correction,

"I have now heard from Christys who inform me that the Fedora crown is 4 & 5/8 inches depth inside to top. This can be adjusted to your specifications if required.

With kind regards,"

Thank you to the other vendors from fedora lounge who helped with this info gathering. I did not post your replies here since hornets is supposed to be the official christy's supplier.

I hope that this post is useful.
