I bought ths suit thinking of having it cut down to fit me, but I decided it really isn't for me considerng the cost of tailoring. It is not quite like any other suit I have ever seen. I am assuming it is of the style of an English gentleman of the upper class that does business or something like that. It makes me think of a guy in a bowler in the finacial district of London. My guess from what I know of tailoring and such is that it is from the sixties through eighties. The style does not seem to be from earlier periods, but does not seem to be too modern. I don't think it would sell on E-bay, but would definitely be appreciated here.

It is in a medium weight charcoal grey flannel. The fabric is a little slippery, so it may have some poly or something in it, or it may just be a very fine wool. The cut and quality of the sewing is exquisite. I don't know if it would qualify as Bespoke or not.

The label is from Osbornes of 13 Union street Ryde, I.O.W., which is Isle of Wight. Phone Ryde 2106. I looked it up on google and they are a shop that has existed since 1850 or so selling clothing and custom tailoring. The inside pocket also has a name under the tag of a man. So I think it was custom tailored for him. It does not at all seem like anything factory made. The tag, off the top of my head looks rather 70s or 80s, but could be as old as the 60s maybe. I am wearing it now and it is so comfortabel I don't want to take it off.

The jacket has a classic, almost edwardian cut with two pockets with flaps on one side and one on the other. It is designed to button on the top only, but has two buttons. The sleeves have four buttons with hand trimmed button holes, but they do not actually unbutton. It is just decorative. The arm holes seem pretty high like a vintage suit. The shoulders are medium padded. It is fully lined. The armpits have a little bit of thread coming undone and wil need to be stitched, but no ripping. The lining is in great shape. The arms are a different fabric, matching the vest lining.

The vest is the best part. It has a collar on it and is designed to show under the jacket. I think this suit would actually look a lot like a modern designer suit, but it is so classic, it would look great anywhere. It is fully lined and has a belt in the back.

The pants have a small pleat, and are pretty slim cut. The cuff is eight inches wide, and the rest of the pant is not much bigger. I can't find any holes in it anywhere. It seems to be in good shape. It is a little stretched in the crotch, but probably just needs a good dry cleaning. It also has a little smell under the arms, but not anything that a cleaner could not take care of. It is very sturdy and should last for years to come.

The measurements are as follows. 21 inches across the chest, collar to shoulder seam is 7 3/4 inches, shoulders, seam to seam is 17 1/2 inches, arm pit to cuff is 17 inches, soulder seam to cuff is 25 inches, arm hole to bottom is 19 1/2 inches, back of collar to bottom is 30 inches, waist is 33 inches, and can go out another 3 1/2 inches. It looks like it was originally a few inches bigger and was taken in judging by the buttons in the back. It has a gripper waist band lining and has suspender buttons. It has a zipper and two hook and slotfasteners with a tab overlapping. The waistband is about an inch and a half with no belt loops.

The inseam on the pants is 29 inches, and the outseam from top to bottom is 40 1/2 inches. The zipper is ten inches and the rise is 14 1/2 inches if I am measuring it right. I measured from bottom of crotch to top of pants. Not on any seam. The cuff is an inch and a half and there is no room to let down any longer, but if you wanted to do a false cuff or no cuffs you could get another few inches out of it.

I typically wear a size 38 short. This is about a size big on me so I would call it a 39 to 40 regular. It would probably fit a size 40 who is maybe 170-180 pounds and 5'8" or 5'9".

I hope someone can fit this suit and can appreciate it. It will make some wearer very happy and will make you appreciate suits on a whole other level.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. I would like eighty bones american plus shipping.

I can not figure out how to post these images, so here are some links. Hope this works.

phone number on tag.

Any chance you can tell me the date based on the phone number on the tag, or at least the latest it could be. The tag says phone ryde 2106. ANy idea when or if they have changed the phone numbers from that form?
