I just bought this wonderful hat in eBay. I will also post it on the appropriate thread.
Could anyone tell me more about it? @steur, @alanfgag, @mayserwegener, anyone?
It happens to be my size, but I bought it without knowing for sure anyway.
I just love the liner, the sweatband, the leather case...
The seller, kelleyschoice2, is very helpful. I recommend him.

The bug really has gotten hold, Max. I've seen that one on auction and it's good to see it go to a deserving home. Dunn&Co were basically a menswear retailer. The company outsourced their manufacturing, certainly of their hats and had several makers as their supplier. T&W Lees of Stockport was one of them, but they outsourced in Europe too (they had European made velour hats in their collection). The company logos are many and varied, but the G.A. in the company name stands for George Arthur and was greatly reduced in size or dropped altogether after his death in 1939. So that makes this hat very likely a thirties or even twenties hat. The rest of the features, like the liner, sweatband and the leather case it came in also point towards an early date. I don't think this kind of hat could have been made in India, but was maybe taken there by its owner. Nice!

Wow. Thanks, Stefan! I thought it had just been put up. I don't understand why it wasn't taken immediately at such a great price. The case alone is worth more.

Gracias, Daniel. I was just thinking that if the sweat says "real calf leather", it can't be that old.

I have old caps that feature a similar imprint on the sweatband. I like Stefan's estimate of age, though it is possible that the case is not original to this hat but belonged with a top hat from the owner's wardrobe perhaps? Once you receive the hat and share higher resolution photos we will all know more.

Just bought this from Justin. I like the color and proportions.

I had seen this one before in the classifieds here and in FB, but I thought the seller's hats were overpriced, and didn't like his presentation: "Buyer will pay 4% PayPal fees, plus shipping and insurance", etc. Too authoritative for me. Not that I have a problem with authority. [emoji2]

Looks good, Max. I like the colour and the two-tone ribbon.

Just bought this Churchill Fifty, brought to my attention by a large-headed friend whose name starts with a B [emoji2]
I don't really like Westerns, but this one went cheap. I have a showy El Presidente with a lousy felt, bought before I knew better, so I wanted to have at least one good Western in my collection.

I came close to throwing in on that Churchill 50 too. Lots of potential there for you.

But it is too small for you, isn't it, Brent? I wouldn't have bid if I thought you might want it. If you want, I can ask the seller to mail it to you. Christmass present [emoji2]

It’s two sizes too small. :(

That very kind and generous of you, Max, but I’m looking forward to seeing what you and Ignacio do with it. If ever there was a hat to win you over to westerns....

And now I’m really all-in on that other you PM’d me about.

Just bought this one. I waited until the last 15 seconds, wanted to bid 365, pressed 0 instead of send, and mistakenly bid $3650 dollars. It went for almost $900.
At first I thought I'd sent the mistaken bid too late and lost. When I saw what it went for, I was relieved I hadn't won, because I got a notice saying I had lost, but then got a notice saying I had won it! Now I have mixed feelings about the whole thing, but I paid for it already.[emoji51]

I too saw that hat. It’s the second time it’s sold recently. Since it is still listed as a US size 7 3/4 (and it clearly isn’t) I’d ask the seller to cancel the sale since his listing isn’t accurate.
