Small embroidered logos like the Izod 'gator never bothered me. It's the huge ones plastered on items nowadays that looks retarded.

I'm positive that the Izod alligator is where it all started. The thing about it was that it was an "in" thing, maybe back in the late 50's, early 60's. A sign of sophistication because it was "European". Then, I believe. Yves St Laurent started intentionally making the logo the selling point in the early 70's. I guess in this crazy world where you can't tell the AC's from the DC's, having those little tribal markings gives people as sense of belonging. Actually, not so different from belonging to Fedora Lounge. But we're not obnoxious about it, right, gang? But the current logo mania, to me, really indicates intense insecurity by the wearers.
