Fiction set during the war

Guess I'm late to the post, so sorry if this is a dead thread, but the best thing that I've found that helps me when I'm writing are many things:

1. OTR

Nothing like getting the feel for rationing or general everyday life than some episodes of Fibber and his hall closet. Yeah, they were fiction, but the writers had to draw from their own experience, right?

2. Old Magazines (maybe you have done this already)

I love the Reader's Digest as it draws from a variety of sources. Especially the shorts like "life in these United States" etc. I've always enjoyed the Saturday Evening Post, The American, Colliers and their short stories also.

Hope this helps a bit. I've never been a published novel person (yet) but just wanted to share what I use when I hack away at some stories.
