Lot easier to define than what exactly is film noir.

Usually just the sound of a saxophone in ballad mode. But played in a manner
that suggests a certain feeling of "peace" upon refelecting after you've seen it all,become world weary, can't cry any more the tears don't change anything, you accept the odds are against you ALL THE TIME,and yet you have to travel on.......never thought you'd see the day that what can cause
the ordinary person to collapse into the fetal posistion in absolute horror,is now just to you...........routine...........and yet at the same time the sound of that saxophone has a sense of foreboding..................you SURE you've seen it ALL?...........you sure this world doesn't have any suprises left for you?................look out pal, cause that little tiny sensation peckin' away at the outer shell of your soul, is a warning signal as big as an atom bomb......just like when you discover that hidden bomb that's been tick,tick,
ticking away, only when you finally stumble across it .........there's only
five seconds left........every minute of every day it haunts you........when wiil you finally be within five seconds of your eternal exit?

With that in mind please go to Amazon.com to hear samples from a cd
any fan of film noir should not be without.

Sax and Violence the Darkside of the Screen. Scroll down and listen to the
track Farewell My Lovely by David Shire. It would make quite the intense
theme for entering the Fedora Lounge if the idea for a soundtrack, so to speak, for the website ever was conceived.

Listen to the Taxi Driver theme and if that can't loosen up the dame you're with ,or loosen you up to her, somebody's got no pulse.

Try Dexter Gordon's cd- Ballads. Give a listen to "I'm a Fool to Want You",
you'll feel like you've been instantly transported to that moment in the
film noir when the lady screams ,the lights go out, the gun fires, the lights come back on...... and............. Johnny didn't make it.................we'll never know if he would of kept his nose clean from now on.............he decided to throw the dice one time too many.............

I would like to provide direct link to the appropiate Amazon.com pages of the cd's I'm referring to,I believe the manage attachments button will lead me in the right direction? I'll edit them in once I figure it out. I hope.

Oh well perhaps someone more computer savvy could lend a helping
paw as to how to link the correct page. But if you don't mind takin a short trip over to amazon.com to listen to the samples I speak of , you won't be dissappointed.

I found the CD you referred to and you can just copy-and-paste the page address into your message input box to give you this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f=pd_bbs_1/104-6806139-8455947?_encoding=UTF8

You can either leave it like that, or if you want to get fancy you can shorten it so the link looks like this. To do this look just above the message input box and you'll see an icon with a picture of the Earth and a chain link. Click on that and a pop-up box will appear that asks you to enter the URL of your link. Copy-and-paste the address into the box, click OK and you'll get a load of gibberish like this

[xxx="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000014VJ/sr=8-1/qid=1140728542/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-6806139-8455947?%5Fencoding=UTF8"]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000014VJ/sr=8-1/qid=1140728542/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-6806139-8455947?%5Fencoding=UTF8[/xxx]

(You won't actually see "[xxx=...] and [/xxx] - the xxx will actually read URL but I had to replace them so you'd see the code)

Notice that the address is repeated. Depending on your web browser the second address may be highlighted. If it's not drag your cursor over the second address to highlight it. Once it's highlighted overtype with a brief description of the link like this:

[xxx="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000014VJ/sr=8-1/qid=1140728542/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-6806139-8455947?%5Fencoding=UTF8"]Sax And Violence CD[/xxx]

With the correct URL tag you'll end up with an underlined description that acts as a link to your page - Sax And Violence CD

Hope that helps.
