It's hot, strong tea with milk, strong enough so you can stand the spoon up in it! In fact most building sites in the UK would come to a grinding halt if they didn't get their tea breaks!:)

morning:

12 grain bread with almond butter, ripe banana and honey. with a big cup of black coffee, it's what i want when i already know it's going to be "one of those days".

evening:

Filipino Chicken Adobo. chicken thighs stewed in vinegar, soy, garlic, onion, bay leaf and black pepper. served with steamed rice and diced tomato. reduced sauce from the pot poured over.

it's our standard "we made it through Monday" meal. first the nutty/aromatic smell of the cooking rice fills the house, then the pungent vinegar/soy in sharp contrast.

I tend to come back to all the things my Mum used to make back in the day and which I grew up with, although I can never make them quite as well as Mum.

Sausages often - devilled sausages and bangers and mash
A good old fashioned roast dinner
Homemade lamb or beef curry
Pikelets or crumpets with honey or jam
Omelettes
Egg and soldiers
Cheese on toast
Lamb chops

Good, simple stuff.

Several options:
->Grilled cheese (preferably extra-sharp cheddar on sourdough) ant tomato soup
->Macaroni and cheese, preferably with tons of shredded cheese and bacon bits
->Just a simple, well-made burger (lean beef, slice of cheese, mayo and mustard on a bun and done)
->Pretzels (bag kind) once in a long while when I need a salt fix
->Pretzel dog from the mall pretzel-shop when my contact at the game-shop tells me I have a care-package to pick up, usually accompanied by an Orange Julius
->Once in a long while when my sweet tooth acts up, a Cinnabon (usually about 1-3 of these a year)

More fish and chips
scrambled eggs on toast
Shepherds pie
Corn beef hash
Roast beef and yorkshire pudding
minestrone soup with 'little star' pasta

One of my favorite meals is:
Seared lamb chops (cooked on a cast iron skillet)
Yellow Fenn mashed potatoes
and sauteed brussel sprouts

and a slice of apple pie for dessert.

It's just the thing that hits the spot.

I am into soup too, and instant cappucino drink.

I cook "crepes" on a weekly basis, abroad or at home, morning or evening :

Crepes with salted butter and sugar : That is the way we eat them here. (Highly addictive). Always good with jam, nutella, peanut butter, speculoos butter....

Served with a light, fresh and crispy apple cider ^^

lol my kids love crepes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner too. nutella, peanut butter, fresh lemon juice and sugar

French butter is the best I swear. I couldn't eat enough butter when I was in Paris. but you're French, I didn't think peanut butter was all that popular in France. I know it's despised in Germany. but then, their "American" peanut butter is disgusting. I had to fork out the extra cash for Jif, if I could find it, or have Mom send it to me

Actually forgot a few things which have become very special (and comfort food) now for me because of my Norwegian wife and having lived in Norway twice. I love Norwegian grub!

Svinekoteletter med surkål (pork chops with Norwegian sauerkraut)
Fiskegrateng (a kind of baked fish pie)
Norsk fiskesuppe (a creamy fish soup, similar to what North Americans call a chowder)
Elg med viltsaus (elk with game sauce) - not much chance of having that Down Under!
Kald kveite med rømme, poteter og agurksalat (cold halibut with sour cream, potatoes and cucumber salad)

Oh and bacon sandwiches on doorstop thick white bread with loads of butter and brown sauce.

Not Norwegian but bloody brilliant.
