Joy Theater built in 1947 reopens

The Joy Theater reopens in New Orleans as an entertainment venue, not certain if they will show films there or simply have live performances.

For those of you who read the article and who do not know what a "pirogue" is, it is a small canoe-like watercraft native to Louisiana. Originally they were a dugout canoe made from a cypress log, but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone making them that way today.

Here's hoping they do make an effort to show movies going forward. I'm glad when any classic bijou is saved/restored, but far too many never again show a motion picture after restoration.
