SPECTACULAR LOST WORLDS ARMY AIR FORCES A-2 FLIGHT JACKET
ORIGINAL CONTRACTOR: J.A. DUBOW MFG. CO. (1931-1943)
This is a catch-and-release for me; I acquired it here, but it's not getting the wear it deserves.... I haven't yet worn it out! And I have my eye on another jacket... I'm asking $315, with OFFERS WELCOME!

This is a truly spectacular jacket!
This jacket is a reproduction of the J.A. Dubow contract jacket.
This jacket is made from chrome-tanned, drum-dyed 3oz horsehide--a hide that is very comfortable to wear and that is already starting to show some wonderful grain. This will only get better with use! The jacket is the correct darker russet of the originals.
The interior lining is Tobacco Brown cotton, made to the same specifications as the original: the 196/90 Type VI Oxford cloth. This is extremely tightly woven.
The knits are 100& wool, the correct shade, and precisely the same weave, density, and hand as the originals. The zipper is a military Tallon zipper made in the USA. The thread used to sew the jacket is also the correct shade of russet cotton--although there are 8 stitches per inch on this jacket, which makes it far more durable and better made than the originals!
The zipper comes with its origional leather pull.
The jacket has been professionally patched. All the patches are professional leather patches; the Tomcat patch on the front, the Army Air Forces decal on the sleeve, and the wings on the front. These could be removed if desired.
This is an earlier Lost Worlds A-2--although one that has been worn very sparingly. It is starting to develop some wonderful grain; my pictures don't do this justice.
This was made--as all Lost Worlds jackets are--in Stuart's factory in New York City.
It does have some very, very minor marks from wear--I've shown them all, but you won't be able to see them unless you're searching for them! And, it is an A-2... a jacket that gets better with wear! There are also some minor holes in both the cuff kints and the knit hem, as shown. These could simply be ignored.
The main zipper works beautifully smoothly. HOWEVER, it does have a tendency to catch on the lining about 5 inches up; this is easily avoided by holding the lining flat at the placket as you zip. It also has an easy fix--a couple of stitches to hold the lining in place!
Overall, then, this spectacular jacket is in (conservatively!) Very Good/Excellent condition.
