I thought the last episode of this season was fantastic, and it was the first that I've ever bothered to watch twice. I appreciated how Don Draper tried to turn his life around, and become a better person. He had to start eventually, before he would deteriorate further, and it was a pretty good start to spend more time with the kids and to do that selfless favor for Ted. He even seemed nicer to his secretary Dawn, after the Hershey's meeting. I hope in the next season we witness Don become a more moral person, and quit the adulterous affairs for good. In addition, I would hope that Don reconciles with Megan in Los Angeles, and manages to bond even closer with her, a sincere apology and a commitment to live there with her may be all that's needed to accomplish that. I'm still not sure what to make of the last meeting Don had with the partners at SC&P, is he about to be fired? What do you think they were thinking about Don since what went on during the Hershey's meeting? I basically want this show to have a happy ending for Don, as what has happened up to this point has been miserable enough. Now, I want to see more of Don's good side show.

Concerning the fashions that went on this season, I like the late '60s and early '70s sideburns look that's suddenly appeared, and more of an acceptance of facial hair is fine, but I'm glad that some characters continued to wear hats, like Don, Roger, and even Ken once or twice (or seen holding one). I don't think I noticed Pete wearing one this season, although it might be a good idea if he's uncomfortable with the state of his hair. I noticed that Roger was wearing a nice black homburg for the Thanksgiving party, towards the end. Don's still looking good in the grey hat, too. As always, Bert Cooper looks the same, I don't think I've noticed any difference between him in seasons 1 and 6, he must have the most consistent style on the show. The next season's making me wonder though, if any of the characters will grow their hair even longer. Do you think Don's going to look the same as this season?

I can see 1970 being a good ending point for the show. I would like to see some fast forwarding just to know what happened to the characters in the recent decades. I'm hoping Don leaves Megan, I've found her to be so annoying to the point that I groan whenever she's in a scene. She's completely oblivious to the fact that world does not revolve around her. Betty was the same way, but at least when she was still with Don she at least wanted him to be happy. I'm wondering if Peggy will decide to start her own successful firm, as she already lost patience with SC and now the merged company. I can see Roger taking Cooper's place the top senior boss by 1980, making endless statements to the employees about voting for Reagan and even getting an account with the TV campaigns. Heck, I want to see Don making pitches for the Apple II or, might be stretching it a little, the SNES in 1991.

Writers Guild: 'Mad Men' one of 10 best TV shows ever.

That's nice. I haven't consciously followed pop culture since 1998 so I haven't seen many of the others, not even 'The Sopranos' (since it's not a period piece).

What makes the show great is it's NOT a putdown of the past nor saccharinely nostalgic (as some accuse people like us of being). Politically incorrect porn for women, which is part of a bigger longing in the culture.

I read that yesterday. I am glad to see that they are going to end it on a high note and not take it to the 1970s. It would be interesting if for the last episode they fast forwarded several decades to either the 1980s or 2000's and show where everyone ended up. I think Don and Roger would not have survived that long with all the drinking and smoking.

Even if they ended the show in the year 1970, it wouldn't be too different from '69. I could see them reaching 1970 if they start the new season off around the late spring or summer of 1969. Mad Men seasons seem to cover close to three quarters of a year, and then skip a few months until the start of the next, in general. However, if what you meant was that you wouldn't want to see the show have further seasons going as far as the mid '70s, or the disco era, I could understand. I think if Mad Men started early 1960, then it would make sense to end it around early 1970 for the show to have fully covered ten years.

A 1980s or 2000s flashforward would be interesting. Maybe 2014 or 2015 would make the characters too old, and unrealistically so for some of them to even still be alive that year. I'm thinking about Roger, especially. Don might make it up to the 2000s, at least.

I could see the early 2000's Saly would be middle aged or approaching it, Megan in her 50's, May even have Joan as a sucessful CEO of a fortune 500 company. Don....well I see him self destructing.

The actress is now in her early 30s, but the character Meghan is in her 20s. Both she & Peggy were in their 20s and started as young secretaries.
I beleive when Don married Meghan, he was 39 & she was 26...maybe 27. What episode was it when Don turned 40? He complains that his real birthday was 6 months earlier...

So if Don Draper were depicted as alive in 2015, he'd be pushing 90.
Peggy would be close to 75....Meghan about the same. Bettie early 80s.
Baby Gene would be about 52.

I'm sooooo glad I got hubby hooked the show!! He should be all caught up soon! I'll get to share the last season with him and its fun discuss each episode with him :)
