Need advice on a Borsy straw

I recently purchased a Borsalino "Buntalflora" straw hat on ebay. I believe this is like the hat Marlon Brando was wearing in his garden death scene. It is a wonderful hat. The brim of the hat was made to be worn up. Is there anyway to get the brim to stay down without cracking or breaking the straw? Also, there are a couple of very tiny spots that are hardly noticeable, but, being anal-retentive, I'd like to remove them. How should one clean a straw hat? And finally, does anyone know what years this style was made?

I would not try to clean a straw hat unless you try using a clean cloth and some cold water . It might wotk , but overall just leave it alone .
Unfortunately , your Borsalino straw hat is from the 1990's . This hat was made under license here in the USA by Bollman hats for Borsalino .:cool2:
