I received this well-used Borsalino from OFAS, and I really like it. The felt is good quality and undamaged, but it needs to go off for a thorough cleaning and rehab. Before it does, I would appreciate any thing you can tell me about it--age, etc. The brim width is 2 3/8" and the crown (bashed) is 5" at the highest point. Here are some pix--I apologize for the label inside the sweatband being slightly out of focus--I re-took it several times, but in future I will need to find a way to steady my hand a little better. The label says:
(top line) 04276 * 78-68653
(bottom line) MOGANO MOKA 7 1/2
My Italian-English dictionary says that Mogano is Mahogany, so I guess that is the color of the felt. Moka, I speculate, is the color of the ribbon. There was no lining in the hat, but there were loose threads that appear to have been used to tack a lining in place.
