Recieved my new panama hat today { a Cuenca, Blocked in Ecuador}. And let me tell you Robert delivered once again!
You can not beat the quality or craftmenship in one of Roberts hats. I like the crown bash and ribbon in this one, but I tell you it would not take much to do a little custom work on one of Roberts hats.
You all know how I like a thin ribbon......
Also for some reason I like to have the brim down all the way around on my straws, dont know why but I like the looks better that way.
Anyway here are a couple of pics, hope to get a few of me wearing it up soon.

Great looking hat RBH. What are the specifics? Style, brim width and if you don't mind my asking the price range?

Thanks Razz, It is a Cuencano. The brim is 2 3\4, it has a cloth sweat and a 4 inch bashed crown. The price was less than $100.00,
This is a real nice hat and I may play with the bash a little to get a somewhat c-crown to it.
Robert also sends a little sheet with his hats that give a little info on steaming or shaping the hat to your specs.
If you are in the mood for a very nice straw, give Robert a holler. He can help you out.

RBH,

You are Member of the Brotherhood of the thin Ribbon for reasons: that style goes really good with you.
Thin ribbon seems to be also a timeless classic.

Borsalino can be considered a good style guide, they offer their 'Superfino' Optimo also w. thin ribbon. But you have proven that Fedoras are also good in that style. Displays more of the hat body's beauty. Congrats again.:eusa_clap

BTW what was earlier? Thin or wide ribbons? Sorry if this was discussed somewhere and I did ask it again...

Regards:
Tom

Thanks everyone.
Tom, it had the wide ribbon on it first.

Here it is after I put in the c-crown bash.

I too, would love to hear the details of how you did the bash.

:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap Very nice, RBH! Beautiful work on the bash. How'd you do that -- do you have a block? I know you live in heat and humidity; is this a lower weave with more "breathe-ability" (likewise the cloth sweat)? How high is the crown after your bash?

Sorry for all the questions. I really like that hat. Nice work.

First off thanks guys!
The way I did the bash was run some warm water an put it in the crown of the hat.I just put in enough to cover the bottom of the crown well. I did this 2-3 times and let the water run out through the straw, I then blotted the remaining water out and put the hat on my head. I knew the style I was after and started putting the shape to it, I would take it off several times to be sure it was right. When I had it like I wanted I left it on my head to dry, as it was drying I worked the crown to be sure the shape stayed in. The hat dried back to the same stiffness it had when it arrived, not hard stiff but just enough so it is not floppy.
After a couple of days {to be sure the shape stays in} I will spray on some type of waterproof to give it a little edge in rainy weather.
Hope this helps and as PanamaBob said, these hats can take some punishment [with in reason] so if you want to try a little self custom work give it a shot!

Hey Mark no problem, Im not sure on the weave count, but as to the crown
the front of the crown is 4 3\8
the back is 3 1\2 [it could have been a little higher but I tried for a shape I had seen on a vintage panama with the back a little lower than normal.
This compares with my Miller Brother Logan panama
the front of the crown on it is 4 1\2
the back is 3 7\8
As to the breathe-abilty it was rather cool feeling yesterday after a summer shower that left the air rather humid.
