Im starting to come to terms with the fact that unfortunately, most Schott jackets just don’t fit me. This one is no exception. A bit short for my 6’ frame. It’s in lovely shape for an older jacket, all zippers and snaps intact and working perfectly, no funky odors, or damage of any sort that I can find. I believe this leather is the naked cowhide, it’s lovely regardless.

Instead of selling outright, I’m hoping to find a trade of some sort. I’d love to find an old Vanson, in 44, which seems to fit me well. I’d also love to try a Bates, though I’m not familiar at all with their sizing. I have another schott headed my way in a 42 long, perhaps that will be the sweet spot?

if you need measurements, or more photos just let me know.

cheers,

Eric

hmmm. you feel like the 118 is short at 6'0? I almost feel like mine is slightly long LOL. I guess everyone's taste is different.

I'm trying to remember whether my 519 is longer. I think it might be slightly. Maybe check that one out. There's one for sale here in classifieds at good price. It's got a slimmer cut than the 118 though. No underarm footballs and slimmer arms. But has the cool stars.

The length of the body is fine, falling right around the top of my belt, but the arms are maybe an inch shorter than I'd like.

It's about as slim as I could go though, but Schott 44 is generally a bit too large, though I guess they vary like everyone else.

Schott naked Cow really destroys any other leather they offer.

And the old stuff destroys the new stuff. I recently acquired a 141 in 42 Long, and while the fit for me is better than this 118, it's a much newer jacket and the hide is much nicer on the 118. The 118 feels thick and solid, the way a motorcycle jacket should.

I suppose I could embrace my inner Joey Ramone and not worry about the sleeves being a little short.

Any idea what year this is from?

Hi Nate, not really. Apparently the 5th digit in the serial number is the year, so I'm going to guess either 83 or 93 as the previous owner thought he'd purchased it around 30 years ago. Maybe there is more info to be gleaned from the labels, or hardware, but I'm not a Schott expert by any means.

Schott didn't have barcodes prior to 1993. So I'm assuming it's 1993, especially since I believe they put a buckle on the belt loop in 2002-2003.

I've seen truckload of Schott Perfecto jackets and this is a rarely good looking hide. Don't wait up on this one, seriously.
