Just picked up this cap Sat in a antique store. Modeled here by Bob the skull. I just need to find me a cape to match now.

Inverness cape

If you want a very nice inexpensive (under $100) nylon/polyester Inverness cape, this is the place to get it:
http://www.misterantony.com/ Their cape is phenomenally effective against rain, and will definitely get you noticed.
If you want to go whole hog and spend a tidy sum (over $800) try these guys. They sell the real deal heavy water repellent tweed.

In the meantime I suppose the next step is to find a nice calabash pipe.
Great hat!

Always on the look out for one watching a few on ebay right now. They always seem to go over my limit.

Funny the image of Holmes in the Deerstalker is the lasting one when relatively few of Sidney Paget's illustrations depicted him wearing it. Same goes for the calabash ( you need, I think, a churchwarden maybe? ).
Hasn't been consistantly chilly enough to wear it yet this year, but it's perfect for the Country Mouse/City Mouse sorta thing when I get chances to wear my kilt.

POI: I don't believe Paget ever showed a curved pipe. It was always straight. When William Gillette played Holmes on stage he found it easier to say his lines with a curved pipe in his lips and after that the American illustrator (whose name I forget) drew Holmes with the curved stem. I'm not sure when the calabash showed up.

I have several hanna deerstalker hats...two that are custom made to match my inverness capes. I had hanna do one to match the inverness being made by Mr. Anthony. Not an inexpensive proposition...but well worth it! I really like the fact that I have a hat that matches the cape completely! Just a suggestion. Depends on what you wish to spend! Good luck in your search! W>
