Cookie finds these photos on the Web, either on sites or on eBay auctions. It's a terrific idea ... a collection in itself .... and very useful as a reference guide. Kudos to you, Cookie, for doing this and sharing it with all of us! :eusa_clap

I really like the Bullocks (though not the way they are laced up). That colour is fantastic. Was that a common colour then, sort of an orange-ish 50s version of AE's chili?

Mon plaisir M. Chevalier.

I would love to tip y'all into the current ones but FL protocols don't allow.

Of course any shoe tragics could PM and I would oblige in the usual way if it were possible. Mates act as we say Down Under.

Definition of a Shoe Tragic

Similar to a Cricket tragic or football tragic.

Someone for whom mere objects or activities hold more than a mere passing interest.

Go to the Shoe Porn site on styleforum.net to understand how bad a tragic you can be.....

Oh oh you've started me off again....1940s suede jobs

The Nettletons pictured above were mine, but alas they are no more. :( I believe the leather must have weakened from age (dry rot?) as there was a tragic shoehorn accident that left the leather split. A very sad ending as I really liked the shoes a lot.

Here's an interesting pair of Keith Highlanders I'm awaiting delivery of:

The AE Ridgeways...WOW!!

I've been looking for a pair of linen/canvas and leather spectators ever since I saw a gorgeous pair in the Cheaney shop in New Bond St, London. But at £200, they were out of my price range :(....a tragedy!! But those AE's look lovely. But I cannot see them on their website, so assuming they are no longer run [huh]

30$

Sure, I know they don't still make like they did in the golden era, but Allen Edmonds still are on the higher side of today's quality standard, I think.

Henrik

Yes, and after an application of various oils they will look marvelous. 30 dollars? Nice price.
