Stetson Saxon question

I recently purchased a Stetson Saxon online and received it yesterday. It's a beautiful hat and fits great, but I had a question about a strange spot near the top of the crown that is a bit darker than the rest of the felt. I tried removing it with a brush to no avail. Is this something I should be concerned about or is this a normal variation? Also, is there a way to remove it either way? I purchased it online, so I would prefer to not return it if at all possible.

My answer would be to return it and to insist that the seller pay for the return shipping.
