Very nice hat and suits you perfectly.

If it isn't too much trouble, could you measure the crown and brim width?

While not the best picture of the ad, we do know for sure when the Vita-Felts were "launched"--1942 for this ad. :D
Nice hat and a good trade. :eusa_clap

I know we're not supposed to give URLs for
current eBay auctions, but there two for
a copy of this ad right now, both dated to 1941
(and another dated to 1942).
Better pictures, too. FYI.

I haven't bought any vintage hat ads yet, I should look into some. They take up less space than the hats themselves, and are generally cheaper, too. lol

yeah- but you can't wear them.:p

From Above!

From above or below? Glad to see you back around these parts, John. How goes it?

Hi Tony!

If you can get the crown pix from above, it is always an interesting detail to see the execution of design.

Going OK, soon to be in the big search for a job soon.

There was indeed a better one. :D

Heh. I was frustrated that none of them, so far, has
been good enough to allow me to read all the text. I did
note that a vita-felt hat cost $10 in 1941, so that was not
a cheap hat.

What is interesting to me (trying to stifle my inner historian...)
is that Stetson ran the ad for more than one year. Since we
know that they did and we can't read all the text, I don't think
we can even date the introduction of vita-felt to 1941
confidently. This is the problem
with dating hats by advertisement. It gives a ballpark idea, but not
precise dates.

Ah, if we could wander in those Stetson vaults. But I wonder
if any of those old documents exist anymore.

I'm wearing a white cotton t-shirt with a giant NRA (National Recovery Administration) logo printed on it. "We Do Our Part" blah-blah-blah.

Hmmm. That t-shirt looks a lot more like a very threadbare button-front shirt. But hey, NRA t-shirt, frayed oxford, what's the diff?!
