Wool jersey was used quite a bit in 50's clothing. I have a couple patterns that have that same draped shoulder treatment and I've seen dresses that have ruching through the torso. I would say that this dress looks pretty 50's to me.

I think it's totally cute, I'd wear it...vintage or no vintage. It definately has a vint feel, with the neckline and ruching! That's a great x-mas party dress. It's hard to find a semi-formal with a sleeve.
