This series of Youtube videos is about the famous center of bespoke English tailoring: Savile Row. For over two centuries now, Savile Row has been the center of top-quality English bespoke tailoring and suitmaking, dressing some of the greatest men in history, from Nelson to Churchill.
The arrival of Abecrombie & Fitch on this historic street has caused the tailoring houses which have been in business here for generations, to feel threatened. They worry about what the arrival of A&F will mean for their image, the quality of clothes produced and for the history of two hundred years of fine, handmade, hand-measured garments which have dressed royalty, film-stars, war-heroes, nobility and great world leaders. The tailors are worried about whether Savile Row will go the same way as other famous streets, squares and neighbourhoods of London, which no longer hold onto the crafts or industries that once made them world-famous.
