I bake, sew, garden, paint, draw, read and shop. Since my shopping as I guess most here, requires a bit more than just dropping in at the local mall, I guess I consider it to be a hobby.

Pass time...

I spend way too much time surfing the World Wide Web ...searching...searching....searching....

Besides all this Golden Era, WWII, USAAF, Howard Hughes stuff, I'm a self-certified Beatleologist! (Yes, I still suffer from BM -Beatlemania!).

I also, when time permits, build plastic models; airplanes mostly.

When money permits, I fly privately. But, since time AND money don't permit, I surf the World Wide Web... searching... searching...searching...

I collect regional accents and try to duplicate them, adding them to my collection.
Same thing with regional english terms or localisms. Fascinating stuff. Did you know that probably the closest surviving thing to Elizabethan English is to be heard in parts of West Virginia? I used to work with a fellow from very rural Indiana. He had a high-pitched voice and I always listened to him intently because he was close to what Lincoln probably sounded like.

I read a lot.
I love to cook.
I do all my own carpentry, cabinet making and home repairs.
I love to travel and never get to.
I like to shop for the rare and unique.

Interesting! :)
West Virginian mountain music is also very similar to the music that was brought here by the earliest settlers. I couldn't tell them apart, actually!

Pastime...

Outdoorsy type stuff and especially going to the Cabin...it was built in the early Thirties and there is some pretty neat history there. (The windows are from an old store that burnt down, you can actually see where the glass got so hot it started to melt.)

Too bad some "Tweakers" broke in and stole the original Logs...lost a lot of history, everytime someone visited they had to write something in the log.
