Cute Vintage-y Shoes

Since it's well-near impossible for me to find vintage shoes that (1) comfortably fit my big bog-stomping 9 1/2 B feet or (2) won't bankrupt me, I'm always on the lookout for The Vintage Look -- especially when it comes to good 30s-40s looking daytime shoes I can wear every day.

So I was *wicked happy* to find these --

I have two pairs in this style -- one in bone and now, as of today, (yay!) one in black, and am totally in love with them. The heel is just the right height for comfortable walking, working, doing stuff around town, etc etc etc, and I really like that the overall shape of the shoe is totally period -- something very hard to find in "modern takes on vintage style."

The only drawback I've noticed is that, like vintage shoes, the insoles are not padded -- so if you're on your feet a lot, which I am, comfort inserts are a big help.

Same manufacturer has this style --

I have these in brown suede, and have a pair in smooth black on order. I'd like very much to have both these styles in smooth brown, cordovan, or russet, but alas, they aren't offered in any of those shades. Pity.

Fit in both styles was precisely true to size, which is often an issue for me. I found that shipping was rather slowish, compared to some online merchants, but they were definitely worth the wait!

Those are really cute!:)

I think I'm going to buy them in black, I would have liked to see them in a dark brown as well.

They look really comfortable. I am so not used to wearing any type of "high heeled" shoe anymore, that when I do, my feet really ache. Flats aren't always appropriate, these shoes look like a great alternative!

I love the 2nd pair! I just found a grey wool hat at an antique mall for $6.00 the other day, and those grey suedes would look awfully cute with it!
Thanks for the link!

I wore the black pair to work today at the movie theatre, and an older lady made a point of admiring them -- "I had a pair JUST LIKE THOSE once!" When she noticed I was also wearing seamed stockings, she had to bring her friends over and point me out to them -- "just LOOK at this girl!"

Couple weeks ago, another lady in a checkout line offered to buy the bone pair right off my feet. Offered me $25, on the spot. If she'd bumped it up to fifty, I might have considered....

Wow, those are cute, I'm going to get the first pair in black. Shoe Trader has some nice vintage like shoes every so often but, I hate having to look through all of the shoes they have available. Thanks again!

Darn, everybody must have bought out the store before me :) ... when I place an order it says "Availability 06/02/06" I hate waiting!
(insert emoticon of girl tapping foot--clad in worn medium-heel patent leather oxford--impatiently here) ;)

Magneto, you crack me up! I can just see you sitting there, tapping away!

Why, thank you :) Who can help being impatient, these are shoes we're talking about here...after all, I see in another thread the lure of new shoes have driven some women to a life of crime...

Oh and yes, thanks to Lizzie from rock-ribbed Maine for posting the links! (hmm, what does "rock ribbed" mean anyway, I keep seeing it in reference to New England...)

Hmmm... 7 narrow? That's my size. Wonder if these would be good for dancing. I just signed up for Balboa classes and was wondering what shoes I'd be wearing...

At Easy Spirit??? Good grief those are expensive!! (But way cute!) Can you all wear heels that high? I wish they'd make the vintage shoes with about a 3inch heel instead of 4+. Sigh...

4+ heels are way too long! or I should at least say scary! Being a clutz...it could spell disaster for me!
Payless shoes sometimes has vintage style shoes that are very affordable....especially when they've got their sales going ;)

The heel height on these surprises me too -- wasn't it Easy Spirit that used to have the commercials where there'd be gals wearing pumps playing basketball? Kinda don't think that campaign would work with these babies.

They *are* awful cute though -- I especially like the "Pallendro" style.
