Sorry to hear that it didn't fit as you had hoped. But don't be too discouraged. Buying hats unseen is always a bit risky. And we have all landed otherwise wonderful hats that just don't fit. It can smart until you find the right hat. Once you do the wound will close quickly.

Yes, it's an unfortunate reality. But the alternative is to personally visit stores that might have something good. The problem is the good stores are scattered all across the country, so if someone wants selection, he has to take his chances with the Internet, whether E Bay or web retailers. Because of the selection available on the Internet, it's a tradeoff I am willing to make.

Yes the closest store we would have here in two hrs away. I guess I feel the same way, the supply is on the net so this is the risk I'm willing to take.

Received my second Borso, a vintage Homburg grey. You guys were certainly correct, the sting of disappointment is fading fast. This one fits perfectly. It needs a cleaning as it has some dust grime and light stains but I think I'll send it to optimo for a blocking and clean.

Here is the first of three Borsalinos that I bid on and won while traveling last week.

Thanks. It looks good on you. How do you like it, in the sense of wearing it often or not? My use for it would be matched up with business-type clothes. Would you use it a lot in that context, or choose around it?
It is a VERY comfortable hat and I really like it. I think it works fine as a dress hat, although in my photo with the suit I think I went a little too gray/black and a different color lid would have worked better.

I wear it often.

Does anyone have a shot of himself wearing a Borsalino Como? I want to decide whether that brim width in a Borsalino is worth buying for me.

I think the modern Borsalino Como has a beautiful profile. Rodkins photos show it off well. I purchased one new earlier this year and like the look of it, but I have to admit I was disappointed with the finishing of the inside - especially the sweat. I can actually feel the stitching against my forehead if I don't position it carefully. It might just be the one I got. I bought it mail order at a good sale price - probably should have returned it, but I decided to keep it a break it in.

I had the same problem with a Como I owned. If you look carefully the sweat has two types of stitching: 1 is a whip type that actually does nothing but scratch your forehead. The other, horizontal, is the one actually attached to the hat. I removed the whip one and it felt great. Two days later, a crazy wind blew it out of my head while walking the brooklyn bridge. I think I posted that here when it happend. Oh well :(

Ouch! Did it wind up in the East River? It's been a long time since I walked the Brooklyn Bridge.

I'll take a closer look at that stitching - thanks for the heads up.

The color "Lentisco"(Mastic) is actually more intense in person. Fantastic mid-length Velour Finish.

Whipstitched edge with a Homburg-style curl. Crown is in the 5-3/4"+ range.
