On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
Nice coat. DB camel is surely a classic. Too bad it's made in the People's Republic of Cash and not the USA. Pull the trigger, man! (Although charcoal or navy are more versatile colors for CBD.)

I have one, too. Great buy for the $. The beltback is not tailored at all, but merely the 2pc belt with buttons to hold it together. This is now a set style, used only on camel coats, but recalls classic styles.

It is a classic for sure. I went through the DB'd craze 40 years ago with a London Fog. I believe I will stick with the SB's henceforth. But it is just a matter of taste. JB's although I don't think I would have any of their leather products, has some nice looking camel.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been wearing a vintage navy DB overcoat that I really like, but the thread holding the seams is rotting and it keeps needing to be repaired. I had decided to get a polo coat, but hadn't been able to find one. I never thought of looking at JAB's. To find one at this price is fantastic. I ran out to the store (only about a mile away) to check the size and ordered one on the spot. Thanks again.

Got one from Jos. A. B. a couple years ago. Living in southern California, weather that calls for a top coat is rare. I wore mine today because when I left for work it was kind of chilly, but enough for me to justify wearing it.

I bought mine during one of the frequent sales, and got two others, black and navy, both SB.

I agree that the camel hair coat looks quite nice. I almost bought one for roughly the same price a few months ago on Ebay. However, I also agree that their leather seems a bit questionable, with the possible exception of their suede jacket, which I thought looked quite sharp in person.

This is mine; I love it. I wear it with everything, from formal to jeans and a cashmere sweater.

I received mine in less than 48 hours. Quality seems fine and fit was perfect. It's not made in China, by the way. Mine is labeled "Made in Haiti". They need the work more.

love the DB camel coat in the first post - I'm sitting here trying to justify owning such a thing here in central Florida.

Its SWEET!

Thanks for the link.

It says it comes with flap or patch pockets, is that an option you can choose while ordering or what?

I recently came across it http://www.josbank.com/menswear/shop/Product_11001_10050_366723 and I must say I'm tempted but I am very scared to spend more than $700 Canadian on a coat I can't try on ahead of time and I have read come across quite a few negative reviews of the quality and service of Josbank

How warm is the coat?

Does anyone have any recommendations for acquiring a doublebreasted camel-coat on more of a budget?

Camel hair is by definition not a 'budget' cloth. E-Bay is probably your only chance and when I was watching e-Bay for camel hair polo coats (about a year ago) they used to show up regularly in all sorts of sizes and price points. The chances of finding one in a thrift store in Canada is zilch. Brooks Brothers of course sells them new, but they're something like $1,500. Do you know your measurements in overcoats?

If you want to be really warm in a Canadian winter you'll need an insulated parka, but a nice overcoat looks a helluva lot classier!

I have just acquired one having taken advantage of their 65% & 25% sale, I am certainly satisfied with it, it has plenty of interior pockets and fit wonderfully. The only caveat is that the quality of the sewing for the buttons seems rather low, and several buttons are already starting to fall off, but that can be rectified by simply getting them resown on. It is certainly classy!
