Josh: I appreciate your kind words! Great picture of the 1893 Expo. The breathtaking splendor of the White City reminds me of some of history's most enigmatic 'Lost Cities'. Palenque, Ephesus, Petra, Angkor, Persepolis, and even Machu Picchu come to mind, and in each instance there are more tangible remains than is the case with the White City. At least there are two spectacular buildings and quite a number of amazing photos that serve to remind us of the scale and grandeur that it possessed.

I still feel a deep sense of wistful nostalgia whenever I look at those old photos of the 1893 Expo.

Highly recommended further reading for those interested, the fascinating book Spectacle In The White City by Stanley Applebaum, and the very thorough and informative White City website.
