yeah, I've seen a few of those "intact" knit kits.

On a similar subject, quite a few months ago I bought a bag of "printed quarter blocks" of tie patterns, and a bunch of patterns that use the printed blocks. Here're some of 'em. In the bag with them was a length of interlining material and silk-tip end material. The sports ones at the beginning give a good idea of how the pieces of the ties get cut.

They look like they'd make great pocket squares, though they're not silk.

a bit big for a pocket square surely? They cut up to make a full length 45" tie. I think the longest edge is round about 30" long.

More proof that vintage neckties can be had for a song here at Los Angeles thrift stores:

From the left: c. early-'60s Wembley (with unusual silver "wash" over motifs); c. late-'50s unmarked, hand-painted; c. mid-'50s unmarked, hand painted with glitter, and what looks like coralite (ground sand). All for 82 cents, tax included...

Good catch there. The right one could also be one of those skinny 80s ties they used to have then.
