My Grandfather worked for Sears for over 50 years before retiring. I went through his skinny ties in the 80's when that was in style and also have his fedora. Recently it crossed my mind to ask if I could go through his word robe again and select clothes that I might wear. He gave me his approval. I have pictures of his killer shoes, ties and three suits. My pics. turned out well. Enjoy

This my first attempt at posting pictures. Please bear w/ me.

Any idea of the age of the suits? I believe they are late 50's. They are all single needle tailored. The labels read "Individually Tailored Sears" The shoes are called "Gold Bond Deluxe" The ties have no brand name.

It's funny because everything we wore growing up was purchased at Sears. I remember my Grandfather said, "know one wore dungarees but peopple that were doing work. Now I realize he meant "Levi's".
That said, I observe in my fathers High School Yearbooks, people were wearing slacks to school in 1960.

My Grandfather said, "he managed every department at Sears throughout the years".
Grandpa moved the family every three to four years as he was promoted and accepted responsibility of bigger stores.
That is how the family ended up here. It was Des Moines or a store in Buffalo, N.Y.
To deny a promotion was career suicide. He was a midwestern boy, born and raised, so Des Moines was a easy choice.

Seabass, love the avatar. Have you ever heard the song: "If The Devil Danced In Empty Pockets" here is the chorus.

If the Devil danced in empty pockets, he'd have a ball in mine
With a nine foot grand, a ten piece band and a twelve girl chorus line
I'd raise some loot in a three piece suit, give 'em one dance for a dime
If the Devil Danced in empty pockets, he'd have a ball in mine

Ok here's the story. Grandpa's closet has been raided numerous times. Their are still killer polyester coat, shirt, and tie combo's hanging in time capsule bags. I brought one home for a laugh . I may post that one as well.
Extenuating circumstances cut my shopping short.
Next coats, boots and hats
