Zombie you've got the winning combination! Campdraft & Silverbelly. Can't beat either one of them and when they're combined, a Campdraft in Silverbelly is unbeatable! Campdrafts are just winners! You did a good job on the crease too. I'm sure this is just the first of many Campdrafts for you sir. Wear it proudly!

Yeah, nice hat Zombie.
Personally, I think silverbelly is just about the most versatile colour and it looks good on just about everyone - including you.

Looks good - nice bash too. Tawny Fawn is as light as I've gone with felts, but you're tempting me to try silverbelly in the future.

Thank you, gentlemen, you're very kind. You'd think a guy who has lived in southern California his entire life would have more of a tan, buuuut noooooooooooooooooo!!! My Irish/German heritage has won that battle, and I remain as pale in color as my new hat. lol

Speaking of which, now that I've gotten past my initial surprise at the hat's actual color I'm really liking it! And I much prefer the proportions of the Campdraft over my Fed IV. I think the wider brim suits me better, and my Fed will be relegated to storage for the foreseeable future while my Campdraft gets more head-time than the Fed ever did. Now that I own one, I can see why everyone likes them so much!

As for any future Campdrafts, although I can't see myself having a large collection of them (I'm nowhere near the hatophile that you gents are) I am considering getting one in Bluegrass Green...we'll see.

ManofKent: As I'm sure you're aware by now, the Silverbelly isn't quite as light as it appears in most photos. To help you out a bit (and to hopefully help anyone else considering a Silverbelly Campdraft) I've done a little photo manipulation to show...well, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words:

I hope this helps! :yo:

I worked the brim on my CD to try and solve the brim flange problem I was having. First, just for kicks, I tried it down all around but this made it look like I was wearing a cereal bowl upside down on my head. I gave it a pencil curl all around by pushing out the flange to a sharper curl at the edge of the brim resulting in a nice sharp pencil curl. This helped some but it still has that slight bowl look but now with a lip on the edge. Maybe I pushed it out too far but any closer and the curl would be too much and the brim would be way too short. I wish the CD had a flat brim.

Robert,

The new Campdraft looks great! Now that you have both grades, what is your opinion of the Heritage?

PS: The dry bash of the Centerfire crease looks pretty cool. I like the final crease best though. Good job!

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and birthday wishes! I am very happy with this hat, especially the quality. This must be what it was like to buy a great hat back in the 1940s or 50s! Mike, this my 3rd CD and while I think all three are great hats, this is certainly the best of the three in terms of quality - I may just have to add a Silverbelly to the pack!

Thanks again to all.
