We were at the liquor store tonight and they were offering taste tests of a Canadian flavoured whiskey.

Wiser's Spiced Vanilla. Thank heavens I did not spend $25 to find out what it tasted like!

The guy before me thought it was great. I thought it was horrible. Seems the clerk doing the taste testing found it was definitely a love it or leave it product, based on customer response.

What a terrible thing to do to whiskey or vanilla. They were happy on their own. Not a good forced marriage.
Vanilla whiskey? $25 dollars IS too much for paint stripper. Good call Duper. ;)
Speaking of Canada...I've seen Crown Royal with Maple.
Really? Never had it, but maple?

Hi, Bourbon with maple leads to a condition called "Drunk at I HOP".

Later
:eusa_clap
I was wondering if pancakes would be involved.
Maple is good, especially on sausage, but in whiskey? I'm not sure about that.
If someone gives me a bottle I'll try it, otherwise no.

More Sierra-Nevada rye pale ale. It's been on sale this weekend.

Maple whiskey sounds terrible, but then it got me thinking, could you distill liquor from maple syrup the way rum is made from molasses?
Not sure about vanilla whiskey either. Could be good, could not, but $25 would buy a lot of vanilla extract.

Beck's dark.
A skunky after taste, probably like Hamms.
It's best to leave this beer in my past, at one time Becks Dark was good...at one time. :eusa_doh:

Was it really ever good or were your standards once upon a time lower? I foggily remember thinking Michelob Dark and Old English 800 were the tops, but now know better.

It might have been, that my taste buds were numb by the time I drank one.
Becks was preceded by how ever many Killian's or Guinness the bar had cold.
Once those were exhausted, I'd choose anything dark that was cold.
I agree TOE, Michelob Dark was good, until something better came along.
Old English 800? Never heard of it.
Which is a shock, even to me. :D

I drink a lot of Becks lager, but I'm not such a fan of their dark. Probably the best dark beer I can think of, that is not a stout or porter, is Negra Modelo. It's better suited for warm weather consumption, whereas stouts - in my opinion - are better suited for cooler evenings. I enjoy Guiness a lot, but a gut full of it in 90+ degrees isn't so much the ticket.

Guinness is a meal: appetizer, main course, and dessert. Negro Modelo is a nice beer. And I agree, stouts are better suited for cold environments whether it be Mother Nature or Man's Greatest Invention, the air conditioner.

I always preferred Colt over Olde English, but then they came out with that menthol flavored @#%& and it just sort of soured me to the whole thing.

Well I put a small dent in a new bottle of Pike Creek 10 year old whisky while watching the Super Bowl. A fine product produced in Windsor, Ontario. It was good. Milder than than other whisky.

Being in Canada when I watched the game! even though I was watching an American station broadcast, our local cable provider still manages to edit the feed and slip in the usual bland, daily advertising I see all the time. Most of the hyped commercials were confiscated at the border.

Excuse me sir, did you purchase any cigarettes, alcohol, or are you bringing anything fun or imaginative into the country?

Sigh!

No Budweiser horses for me. No Bob Dylan. Off to Youtube tonight for the highlights I guess.
