That's about 15 minutes from me

Back in the day Jersey City was a very hip hoity kind of place with lots of jazz clubs and night life

That's good info, Anthony.

That the area was a cultural hotspot makes me feel that it is more likely that they were catering to that hip crowd. This ad appeared in The Jewish Standard on April 22, 1932:

The "beautiful colors and snappy styles" makes me think that Bergen was trying to tap into that market.

Lord knows, I certainly feel "snappy" and hip when I wear it! [emoji3]
