Love those beautiful Featherweights.
Love those beautiful Featherweights.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Never a bad time to wear felt.
I was raised in Charleston, SC. Similar humidity to N.O. and much worse than the Gulf Coast of Florida (where I am now). I'm just saying that if I did it then (and actually will again this weekend), it is do-able. Not for everyone, surely, but do-able.Hard disagree in the summer in New Orleans. Some days I don't even want to wear a straw unless it's ventilated cuz anything that keeps your noggin from radiating heat just makes you sweat miserably. You do you, but as much as I wish I could wear even the lighter weight felts it's just not comfortable here.
I was reading it as "never a bad time to wear felt inside with the AC on blast" - I stand corrected.I was raised in Charleston, SC. Similar humidity to N.O. and much worse than the Gulf Coast of Florida (where I am now). I'm just saying that if I did it then (and actually will again this weekend), it is do-able. Not for everyone, surely, but do-able.
They definitely make great Florida hats!Love those beautiful Featherweights.
As we well know! They definitely make great Florida hats!

mitigate = correct - this is called a crazy person lol - I'll get in a sauna every now and again but only if I can get back out.Come to think of it I have a friend whose wife was raised here and he says she'll drive around in the summer with the AC off and the windows rolled up, so maybe you just have to be cold blooded due to being born here lol.
I've come to be able to tolerate the heat and humidity but I do everything I can to make it as easy as possible to tolerate it.
I love the brim on that Christy’s! How the left side is slightly curled, awesome.Wearing my first Christy's today, courtesy of @jeffgarf.
My wife likes this one. She says the brim proportions are correct for my size and frame - 5'8" 185 lbs., for the record.
I'm going to post a picture of the Optimo for comparison. The brim on the Christy's is 2 1/2" and the brim on the Optimo is 2 3/4", which isn't that wide for me these days.
But for the moment, I digress - Jeff Garf, my first Christy's - love this hat

And the Optimo:

Since I bought the Optimo before I had a standardized system for recording new hats, and for the purposes of this conversation, I pulled it back out and got some new photos.
What I notice now, having had more experience with a wider variety of hats, is that I don't think it's the brim width that is really giving me trouble. I am actually having issues getting the brim shaped according to my current preferences. I didn't clock this when I first bought it. I suspect this is caused or exacerbated by the thin brim ribbon, which feels like it is forcing it into a preferred configuration.
I was gonna ask you to ship that AF in one of these but I didn't think about it until too late - maybe next time.Travelling day in a black Panama from Bigalli. As a bonus, every TSA agent I encounter asked my about my hat backpack. Seems they were or knew some cowboy hat aficionados.

Of all the dudes that post in this "What Hat Are You Wearing Today" thread, Rick makes me want to sit at a table outside the bar with an Old Fashioned and a row of dead soldiers the most lolThe Lawnmowing hat is doing double duty for the coffee run today. An LLBean straw

This case is not one of mine. I wish mine could be this good. Mine only are the hat case. This company attached that to a backpack. Much more expensive and rare. Got to give thanks to my daughter-in-law who found this one for me.I was gonna ask you to ship that AF in one of these but I didn't think about it until too late - maybe next time.
